8th Grade Science Events
Submitted by Ric Oleksak on Wed, 01/20/2010 - 10:19am.Thanks to all those parents who participated on the '09 field trips to
OSU and PSU your support is really appreciated. Our students had
fun visiting the labs and displays at both schools.
We'll have two more field trips before the end of the year. One to MHCC
to visit the planetarium in April, and one May/June to Mt Saint Helens and
Johnston Ridge Observatory there.
We're currently finishing up our study of earthquakes and vocanoes. This
will lead us into our coverage of weather. In March we'll spend a week covering
health ed issues in the former STARS program renamed,
For Real Relationship Education and Life Skills.
Thanks for your support in all endeavors.
WELCOME BACK
Submitted by Ric Oleksak on Wed, 09/16/2009 - 3:49pm.We'll be studying three major areas this year. They include:
1) Plate tectonics and all the earth's changes that bring about earthquakes,
volcanoes and changes to the earth's surface and it's interior.
2) Weather and climate with many of the change that go on around us on
both a short term and long term basis.
3) Astronomy with a focus on earth, moon and sun relationships.
We'll also cover some heath ed issues from time to time.
Your students may have spoken to recently about the international space
station and space shuttle orbits we've been able to see in the night sky
recently.
Looking forward to another awesome year.
