 Due Dates for the Week of February 1-5  

In addition to the assignments below, students will present a one-minute speech/current event on his/her assigned day. 

Monday, February 1 
  • weekly reading due (parent-signed bookmark)

  • We will be walking to the Sellwood Library to look for famous African American Biographies.  Please bring your library card.  PM Block (periods 3-4) will need to bring a sack lunch as we will be eating in my room 4th period when we return.

  • History Alive chapters 11-12 vocabulary, SMS questions or outline due
  • History Alive chapters 11-12 open-book test

Important Announcement:  Weekly Work will not be due the first week back from the holiday break.  Instead, students will be working on the State-wide Anchor paper (Character Analysis).

 

* In addition to the assignments below, students will give a one-minute speech this week.  They will either share on a topic of their choice or share a current event (if sharing a current event, they also have paper work to turn in).  Ask your student when he/she is scheduled to give his/hers.

* After this week, the next weekly speech for your student will be the week of January 11th.

We just completed unit one (chapters 1-6) in "History Alive" (Early Humans and the Rise of Civilization).  We will now begin working on a District-wide Persuasive Anchor Paper which focuses particularly on chapter 6 (Exploring Four Empires of Mesopotamia). There will be a lot of pieces to this writing assignment.  Most of the work will be completed in class, but periodically there will be parts coming home for homework.
